Spring 2012 annual VMATYC Conference

The annual Spring 2012 state-wide VMATYC conference in conjunction with the VCCS Math/Computer Science Peer Group meeting will be March 30 & 31 at Lord Fairfax Community College in Middletown, just off I-81 at exit 302. The conference hotel is the Holiday Inn in Winchester, north of Middletown about 20 miles, also just off I-81.  Hotel lodging will include a free full, hot breakfast buffet on Saturday morning. Winchester has a great downtown area where they transformed about seven blocks of a north-south street into a walking mall, with many shops and restaurants.

Please complete the Pre-Conference Survey by Oct. 13 and be on the lookout for an e-mail this month asking for conference presenters.  The conference is a great opportunity to tell others about the teaching techniques that you are using in the classroom or the mathematical research that you are engaged in.  It is also a stimulating venue to discuss various issues concerning the teaching of mathematics at two-year colleges.  When you receive your “call for presenters” e-mail, please thoughtfully consider how you might share your experience as a conference presenter.

If you have any ideas for the conference, please feel free to share them with Mike Kirby, the conference chair, at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots.
